I’ll be at ComiCONN on Saturday

Erik Yacko contacted me two years ago and invited me to attend his first ever ComiCONN. It was June 2010 and I brought my nephew Nicholas along for the day. It was a small show, a bunch of dealers, a few artists and that was it. It was modest and fun, especially as I got to meet some talent for the first time and renew acquaintances with others.

Last year, the show moved from North Haven to Stamford and also shifted from early to late summer. I was offered table which I split with Paul Kupperberg. We were accompanied by his son Max and we had a good time chatting with Frank McLaughlin at the adjacent table, sold some stuff, talked with fans but kept a wary eye on things. The show had the misfortune of being scheduled opposite the arrival of Hurricane Irene, which depressed attendance and led to us closing a wee bit early.

Tomorrow, bigger and more robust, ComiCONN will hold their third show. This time at the Trumbull Marriott, the event will have plenty to see and do.  The 501st will be on hand along with replicas of the coolest Batmobile of them all and the Black Beauty.

PK and I will be back and I will have with me Star Trek post cards, displays from the forthcoming book to show off, and copies of ReDeus: Divine Tales to sell. the guest lineup has been enlarged and they’re importing my pal Peter David so it should be plenty of fun.

The event has grown large enough to merit attention from the local press and the article has the details for those curious on attending. Eight hours of fun for $15 (free for those under 10) is a pretty good deal these days so if you attend, come by and say howdy.
