Awesome Con
is growing by leaps and bounds and I am thrilled to be returning, albeit only Saturday and Sunday. But, I will be moderating three panels in addition to manning a table on the showfloor.

For those attending, come say hello, buy a book (or two), and come listen.

Saturday

“Playing in Your Sandbox vs Someone Else’s Sandbox” 10:15-11:15, room 145B

What are the pros and cons for doing work-for-hire for others compared with the pros and cons of working in your own world? Duncan Rouleau, Jamal Igle, Peter Krause, and Amy Chu discuss the allure of each.

“Mainstream vs. Independent” 2:45-3:45 PM, room 156

The top companies pay the best rates, get the best coverage in Diamond Previews and tend to be prominently displayed in retail shops. But is that enough to make a creator happy? Steve Seagle, Joe Harris, JK Woodward will address the question.

Sunday

“I Was Inspired by…” Noon-1PM, room 145B

Today’s writers and artists draw their inspiration from an increasingly diverse set of sources. Learn what has influenced Joe Kelly, Alex Simmons, Laura Lee Gulledge, and Thom Zahler  — some of the most creative people working today.

I am fans of all the people participating but I am delighted to be reuniting with peers such as Jamal, who interned at DC before becoming a cool artist and Peter Krause, who I brought into the DC fold to draw Star Trek: The Next Generation. This should be a ton of fun.
