My Shore Leave 38 Schedule

Shore Leave logoShore Leave 38 kicks off on Friday and it will feel, once more, like a family reunion as I reconnect with my far-flung writing peers and see old friends. The schedule is chock full of panels I want to be on or sit in on, far more than time allows.

Barring last minute changes, here’s my schedule of where to find me when not at the Crazy 8 Press table.

Friday

Meet the Pros, 10-Midnight

Come by and buy a book, get an autograph, take a picture, shake a hand. Just about every author in attendance will be on hand. C8 will be debuting Altered States, just one of several books making their inaugural appearance.

Saturday

Bob & Howie Show, 10-11 a.m.

Once a program filler when Howie and I were two-thirds of Shore Leave’s guest list, the information, opinion, and banter-filled has become a staple of the show and we continue to find things to entertain and educate.

All Kinds of Writing Workshop, Noon -2 p.m., Concierge

Conducted by Howard Weinstein, he is supported by Dave Galanter, Kelly Meding and yours truly. I’ll be on hand for the first hour only because then…

Youth Writing Workshop: Plotting, 1-2 p.m., Derby

Last year, Crazy 8 Press was asked to conduct a teen track of writing workshops and it went over well enough we were asked to repeat the process this year. We kick things off with me and Aaron Rosenberg walking you through how to start.

c8bobCrazy 8 Press, 2-3 p.m., Derby

Crazy 8 Press Talk with the authors of Crazy 8 Press, find out what we’ve been working on, what’s coming next, and why we do what we do. Michael Jan Friedman (M), Aaron Rosenberg, Russ Colchamiro, Glenn Hauman, Peter David, and me. We’ll be mixing things up this year with some readings as well as news.

trek50-logo-smallStar Trek at 50, 3-4, Salon A

2016 is Star Trek‘s golden anniversary! Where’s it been, where is it, and where’s it going? I am honored to be moderating this with longtime contributors Paula M. Block, Dave Galanter, Christopher L. Bennett, Howard Weinstein, and Larry Nemecek.

Sunday

Mystery Trekkie Theater, 10-Noon

We’ve just about lost count of how long we’ve been doing this but we couldn’t skip the 50th anniversary of Star Trek without Peter David, Mike Friedman, and me skewering an episode. To accommodate Peter’s schedule, we’re kicking the day off rather than closing out the convention.

Youth Writing Workshop: Drafting and Revising, 2-3 p.m., Derby

Peter David and I talk about how to get your first draft closer to publication-ready.
