Where Have I Been?

Altered-States-promo-art-640I have been exceedingly quiet here on the blog but that does not mean I have been in stasis. There has actually been a lot going on but for a variety of reasons, I have put off writing anything for public consumption.

The last few weeks has been filled with a lot of planning, both my final weeks of the school year, and beyond. Our summer calendar is filling up quickly with family and social obligations which is kind of fun.

Professionally, the future has yet to take shape. There are options being explored and opportunities being evaluated. More on this another time.

On the writing side of life, there are a few things perking up that demand attention.

First, our Crazy 8 Press annual anthology is also a big celebration as we invite many others to join in on the fun. The title is Altered States of America: What America Could Be and mines the last 250 years of history finding turning points where things would have turned out vastly differently had we gone left instead of right.

In addition to the seven of us, Editor Glenn Hauman has brought on board Debra Doyle & James D. Macdonald, Brendan DuBois, Malon Edwards, G.D. Falksen, David Gerrold (who finished his story in my family room during the February blizzard), Alisa Kwitney, Gordon Linzner, Sarah McGill, Mackenzie Reide, Ian Randal Strock, and Ramón Terrell. I’m working on finishing my contribution this week.

Pota_1x03_004There’s an Indiegogo campaign to fund the project, due for release at Shore Leave in mid-July. It can certainly use your love and support.

Amazon, this week, posted the pre-order page for the Planet of the Apes short story anthology that I am a part of. There is no official title or cover posted as yet, but at least now we know its due out January 24.

I have also been reconnecting with my old DC pals as I work on not one but two different pieces for Back Issue! and that’s always a pleasure. And I have been hired to edit a book for a publisher, details not yet announced. But it’s a subject i like and with an author I respect.

I’ll be working on the above this summer, along with two of my three remaining grad courses as I close in on my second master’s degree so at least I will be nicely busy.
