Growing up, Robbie had a small number of close male friends, but he had a ton of female friends. Maybe because he had an older sister, or he took after his father, but he was incredibly comfortable with girls from an early age.

While Brooke and Marianne were his two closest companions, he and Kira found themselves in the same classes and summer theatre productions. They often found themselves paired in scenes and were definitely compatible.

When neither had a romantic partner, they attended the prom together and made a smashing couple, if I do say so myself.

Kira and the others have gone on to have fulfilling lives, and seeing their exploits via social media brings some measure of comfort. But here we are, on his 36th birthday, and I remain left with what-ifs. No doubt, were he with us, there’d be stories and joy, antics and adventures.
