Three March Releases in One Week

Posted on

I was stunned to realize I would have three releases come out on the same day in October. Imagine my surprise to see three books coming out in March.

Out first, is Biff! Bam! Ee-Yow! The Subterranean Blue Grotto Guide to Batman ’66—Season Two. Edited by Jim Beard, aided and abetted by Rich Handley, this book is out now in paperback and Kindle from Crazy 8 Press and I find myself in excellent company: John C. Bruening, Ed Catto, Russ Colchamiro, Greg Cox, Joe Crowe, John S. Drew, Peter David, Keith R.A DeCandido, Dave Dykema, Pat Evans, Andrew Farago, Chris Franklin, Michael Jan Friedman, Teel James Glenn, Dan Greenfield, Forrest C. Helvie, Sam Knight, Paul Kupperberg, Brian K. Morris, Bobby Nash,  L.E. Pérez, Alan J. Porter, Aaron Rosenberg, Frank Schildiner, Stacey Smith?, Lou Tambone, and Steven Thompson.

An interesting thing happened during the production of the book. I thought Jim has assigned me “That Darn Catwoman” and “Scat! Darn Catwoman” while he thought he assigned me “Catwoman goes to College” and “Batman Displays his Knowledge”. I dutifully wrote my essay last spring and the error didn’t come to light as the book was being assembled earlier this year. I volunteered to ditch my entry and write the missing essay.

So, nothing should go to waste, right? We’re using the essay as a bonus feature in the Crazy 8 newsletter this week. If you sign up (it’s a freebie), you can see me wax nostalgic for Leslie Gore.

Then, on Saturday, the eBook edition of Turning the Tied was released. I just wrote about this so you know the drill. The print edition at B&N and Amazon is forthcoming, promise with the proceeds going to the World Literacy Foundation.

And today, after some delay, the Kindle edition of Thrilling Adventure Yarns 2021 out with the print version not far behind. This was successfully Kickstarted in late 2020 and I was delighted to add illustrations, which I think makes the book look smashing.

Just look at the lineup of writers: Michael A. Burstein, Russ Colchamiro, Greg Cox, Paige Daniels, Lester Dent, Mary Fan, Kelli Fitzpatrick, Michael Jan Friedman, Robert Greenberger, Glenn Hauman, Heather E. Hutsell, Paul Kupperberg, Karissa Laurel, William Leisner, Jonathan Maberry, David Mack, Ron Marz, Danielle Ackley McPhail, Stuart Moore, Will Murray, Jody Lynn Nye, Scott Pearson, Aaron Rosenberg, Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore, Richard C. White, and Sherri Cook Woosley!

Matched by the quality of the artists I corralled to help me out: June Brigman, Kerry Callen, Gary Carbon, Mike Collins, Daerick Gross, Matt Haley, Karl Kesel, Peter Krause, Luke McDonnell, Ron Randall, Dan Schkade, Bart Sears, Daniele Sera, Jeff Weigel, and Mark Wheatley.

I am truly proud of how well the book turned out and hope you do, too. Id love to hear what you think after reading the 27 stories in this jam-packed collection.
