Finally, The Four ???? of the Apocalypse is Available

Posted on

Way, way back in 2020, I was invited by Keith DeCandido and Wrenn Simms to contribute a story to their planned anthology The Four ???? of the Apocalypse. The idea was that the traditional Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Death, Famine, War, and Conquest) could easily be personified not as horsemen but as…septuagenarians, cats, squirrels, plagues, lawyers, librarians, and—cheerleaders.

Yep, I took inspiration from the delightful Bring it On and my students. I knocked the story out in August and submitted it, expecting to see it out within a year.

It took Keith and Wrenn a while to run the fundraising campaign and even longer to incorporate, edit, and design the book. But, at long last, the anthology is available in print and digital incarnations this week. You can find it at Amazon, Kobo, and Barnes and Noble.

Under a sterling JK Woodward cover, I am joined by Danielle Ackley-McPhail, Derek Tyler Attico, Adam-Troy Castro, Russ Colchamiro, Peter David, Randee Dawn, Mary Fan, Michael Jan Friedman, David Gerrold, Laura Anne Gilman, Gerard Houarner, Gordon Linzner, Jonathan Maberry, James D. Macdonald, David Mack, Megan Mackie, Gail Martin, Seanan McGuire, Jody Lynn Nye, Aaron Rosenberg, Jenifer Rosenberg, Hildy Silverman, Patrick Thomas, Michael A Ventrella, and Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore — plus the two editors.

I’m happy enough with the story to recommend you check this collection out, no doubt there will be something for every taste.
