Deb and I have been long-term listeners to CraftLit, a marvelous podcast that blends literature with fiber arts. Normally, every week, we get a podcast containing a chapter or two of a public domain classic with host Heather Ordover providing commentary and analysis, helping us grok the material. She also discusses whatever crafty things are in the works. Since 2006, she has been providing this and has built a wonderful international community.

Every now and then, she provides us with treats such as her current Twelve Days of Christmas, with every day providing us with holiday tales. When she put out the call for suggestions, I offered her one of my own. As regular readers may recall, last year, Crazy 8 Press had an unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign for an anthology of unusual holiday tales.

I had such faith in the campaign that I went ahead and wrote the story of a young bar mitzvah boy playing dreidel against the devil. I consulted extensively with my friends Michael and Nomi Burstein to get the Judaism right. So, Heather read it and liked it so tonight, I am number seven, and it is available for your listening pleasure. After the story, you can hear Heather and I chat a bit.
