My Farpoint 2024 Schedule

Posted on

Here comes the first con of 2024!

Farpoint marks the first regular con that I attend to start afresh. With the Hunt Valley Inn now a cherished memory, the show relocates to the DoubleTree by Hilton in Pikesville, MD. I’ll be hustling there right after school because I have my first programming item in the late afternoon.

Here’s where you can find me when I’m not manning the Crazy 8 Press booth.

Must Every Book be a Series?

Secretariat, 5 pm – 6 pm

Jay Smith, Jennifer R. Povey

It seems like every new novel is part of a trilogy or a series, which can be off-putting. What happened to the good ol’ one-off story? Let’s discuss the pros and cons of the lone novel.

Bob Greenberger

Preakness A/B, 10 am – 11 am

Aided by Glenn Hauman, I will talk about books and teaching, and then it’ll be trailer time.

Crazy 8 Press

Bowie, 3 pm – 4 pm

Michael Jan Friedman, Aaron Rosenberg, Mary Fan, Glenn Hauman, and I will fill you in on what’s coming from our imprint in 2024 and how we’re still at it 12 years later.

The Bob and Howie Show

Preakness A/B, 10 am – 11 am

My students helped me with the social media countdown.

Once again, Howie and I will be talking about all things Trek, our writing projects, our current favorite shows and films, and whatever else comes to mind.

50(+) Years of Star Trek Conventions

Secretariat, 11 am – 12 pm

Howard Weinstein, Michael Jan Friedman, Dan Deevy

2022 was the 50th anniversary of the first big Star Trek convention—were you there? What was it like? How did cons evolve from that one? Will they ever end?

I have a light enough schedule that I hope to be chatting with fans and selling books at the C8 table. If you attend, come on by.
